INF311
This class explored information technology in fictional and non-fictional narratives. I learned how to be more critical with the media I consume.
For our group project, we analyzed iRobot (2004), going deeply into themes such as labour laws, gender, race, autonomy, and what it means to be human. These topics helped me in keeping a more inclusive approach to my work.
INF313
This class taught the basics of coding. I was introduced to new web technologies such as JavaScript and Firebase.
I got the chance to apply my knowledge by creating a secret number guessing game with a group. The game was a fun way to learn both the front-end and back-end of web development.
INF352
INF352 focused on human-centered design principles and practices. Some of the topics covered were the design lifecycle, user research, prototyping, and usability testing.
I worked on the Student Life Tracker app, a tool that helps promote clubs and events on campus. The experience taught me how to collaborate with others and how to design with the user in mind.
INF401
This class was a transition from the academic world to the professional world. I learned how to basic job search skills as well as develop a professional persona.
My final project consisted of writing a research paper on the happiness of employees in the workplace and making an infographic.
INF452
INF452 introduced basic programming concepts and how to code in Python. I had the opportunity to work on a group project that involved full-stack development.
We created the UofT Club Finder, which scrapes the UofT website for club information and displays it in a user-friendly way. I learned how to use Tkinter and BeautifulSoup.
